Abstract

The joint implementation of both Human Factors and Engineering methodologies is recognised as beneficial to total system design. Forcing the implementation of methodologies from both disciplines throughout the system design cycle, however, may be counterproductive. Guidance needs to be provided within both the Human Factors and Engineering communities to avoid both the over zealous use of HF methodologies and missed opportunities for human factors evaluation.
