1.1 Scope.
This standard establishes the technical content requirements for the preparation of supporting information (previously known as appendixes) for weapon systems and equipment Technical Manuals (TMs) and Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs). These requirements are applicable for both paper and digital page-oriented TMs. Electronic delivery of supporting information included in TMs is accomplished through the use of the Supporting Information modular Document Type Definition (DTD). The DTD is available in a digital format. Refer to MIL-STD-40051 for information on obtaining this DTD. Supporting information requirements are included for the preparation of technical data that supplements the maintenance information contained in the body of the TM. This supplemental information includes reference data, general maintenance and parts information and associated illustrations.
