3. Description/Purpose
3.1 The Packaging plan contains information on the item characteristics; item packaging special handling, and transportability requirements; and packaging concepts applicable to an item being developed.
3.2 The Packaging Plan provides information required to monitor and evaluate the development of the contractor's planning for packaging of an item.

7. Application/Interrelationship
7.1 This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirements as delineated in the contract.
7.2 The Packaging Plan is applicable to contracts which contain a requirements for the contractor to develop packaging requirements for an item.
