1.1 Specific Instructions. One record shall be prepared for each drawing (assembly,
subassembly, or part), standard or other document used in the fabrication, or maintenance of the
equipment.
2. Format instructions. The engineering drawing data template format requirements shall be as
specified in the Flat File Validation (FFV) User’s Manual.

Introduction
As part of the computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support initiative, a
method and process for electronically transferring reportable elements of contractor developed
technical engineering and configuration control data. This method uses the electronic flat-file
transfer format and associated software as a vehicle for Government contractors to deliver
configuration baseline and subsequent change data on a project throughout contract life-cycle.
