The Software Independent Verification and Validation Plan (SIV&VP) defines the plans and
procedures of an enterprise for the management and conduct by that enterprise of a program to verify
and validate the software and software-related products associated with a project or software support
effort. The program is termed herein an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) program.

The SIV&VP is subordinate to and derives its authority from a System Engineering Management Plan
or similar document which provides overall technical direction to a project or support effort.
