About 60% of the attendees were not presenters, and about 40% were nonmembers, which speaks to the effectiveness of our marketing efforts in spreading the word beyond the HFES member community. The largest group of attendees was practitioners (29%), followed by health-care industry professionals (21%) and researchers (16%). Roughly one third of the presenters were members of the Health Care TG.

 Overall, 91% of participants rated the symposium as high or very high in quality, and the quality of the overall content was rated high or very high by 78% of the survey respondents.
 Ample anecdotal evidence of the success of the health-care symposium can be read in the testimonials offered by some of the survey respondents:
o “This is the only conference that has an entirely medical focus within
the human factors domain. It was so valuable to be able to network and
talk with so many other professionals working within this same framework and industry!”
o “The HFES health-care symposium gave me a broader perspective, and
renewed energy, in how to effectively apply human factors to increase
patient safety and ultimately improve health outcomes.”
o “One of the best conferences I’ve attended! Small enough to be friendly
and intimate, large enough to provide great sessions all of the time.”
o “This was a brilliantly run conference with crucial content in a lovely
location.”
